Taxes Taxes Taxes...
Last year we paid a hundred and fifty bucks for someone to tell me I owed the government 90 bucks! To say I was very unhappy about that would be an understatement. First thing I did was get a biweekly RSP contribution started. It's minimal twenty five bucks a paycheck but I don't ever want to pay the government again. The thing is though, I don't know if twenty five is enough. So here is my list of question
What's the minimum I can contribute for it to affect my taxes in the positive light?
How does one file taxes?
Or calculate a return?
Why isn't this stuff taught in school?
How does making charitable donations affect your taxes?
Does it matter if the tax receipt from a charitable donation comes in Mr.'s name but is being filed under my taxes? (or do I have to go back to them and get them to correct it?)
How do you file your taxes as a student?
Do we file separately or jointly? (what have our previous accountants done before...)
How do student loans affect taxes?
I'm a banker and yet I still don't know if TFSA's or TSP's would be better?
